Yunho Kim became the head of KHNP’s Central Research Institute in December 2018.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Kim was director general at KHNP CRI, in charge of new reactor development projects in Korea. He was previously the project manager of APR1400 design certification for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
He started his career as a core designer and developed an optimized operational strategy for power uprate and efficient ex-core detector calibration method, based on neutron kinetics. He was also involved in the management of the safety analysis, environmental qualification and the refurbishment of Wolsong unit 1 in Korea.
He received master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nuclear engineering from Seoul University in South Korea.
